VF-124

This Category is for all Airframe Specific Training for the F-14A and F-14B Tomcat

The F-14 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) course seeks to familiarise newly V1 qualified F-14 pilots and RIOs in recognising the finer capabilities and limitations of the Tomcat. This course consists of multiple sections, such as Crew Resource Management (CRM), General Limitations, General Operating Procedures, Weapons Employment and Contingencies.

Designed as a "V1.5", this course will benefit new pilots and RIOs to develop their skills in a flight, and thus improve the overall skills of the flight.

The F-14 aircraft is a supersonic, two-place, twin-engine, swing-wing, air-superiority fighter designed and manufactured by Grumman Aerospace Corporation.

This course will familiarize pilots with specifics and peculiarities of the airframe; from the cockpit layout to weapon system employment.

The objectives of the F-14 RIO airframe familiarization is to enable the prospective RIO to have a solid understanding of how to effectively employ the AWG-9 system, and understand key theory.
